Did you know you can climb one of the world’s few via ferratas built on volcanic rock?
The Roca de la Creu Via Ferrata is truly unique thanks to its remarkable geology. The route is equipped on granophyre, a rare volcanic rock that combines characteristics of granite and volcanic formations. This impressive landscape was created by an ancient volcanic chimney that formed more than 400 million years ago, during the Upper Ordovician period.
This distinctive rock also supports acid-loving vegetation, including the abundant heather that lines much of the route.
Ribes de Freser is home to the largest and best-known granophyre outcrop in Catalonia, and this via ferrata offers the perfect opportunity to explore it while enjoying an exciting mountain adventure.

Requirements
No previous climbing experience or special level of fitness is required.

Recommendations
Wear comfortable clothing and sturdy sports or hiking shoes. We recommend using well-worn footwear rather than brand-new shoes. Cycling or climbing gloves are also recommended.
